Web: ePaper

Publish your newspapers on the web. Competitors use HTML or PDF. HTML is flexible but deviate too much from the paper edition, and demand manual editing to publish. PDF on the other hand copies the paper pages exactly but is inflexible on a monitor.

Scoop ePaper is a smarter way to read the newspaper on screen and a smoother way to publish on the web.
Using ePaper, the reader starts by selecting edition (default is today), then selects a page from the overview, and finally clicks on the article to read. The user can then select between reading the article as text and PDF.
The product integrates easily with eLibrary and PageTrack, our archive and production systems, which also run via a web interface.
Thanks to these improvements, Scoop ePaper is suitable as a pay service to the readers.
Until now, it has been difficult to publish newspapers on the web including the ads. With Scoop ePaper, the reader browses through the pages and easily reads all ads on their original pages. This is of extra value both for the readers and the advertisers.

Automatic generation

Conventional systems for newspaper publishing on the web involve manual editing. Our ePaper is generated automatically, with the press of one button, from the Quark or InDesign page documents. Our demo (link below) is the result of such an automatic generation. On request we can offer customised framesets and user interfaces. This module is the same as in Scoop eLibrary, making it very easy to run eLibrary and ePaper parallell. Its our automatic generation that gives you the big savings!

Simple setup

The system is very simple and consists of these parts:
The eXport add-on, automatically generating XML code from the page documents, not requiring any manual operation.
The ePaper server program, producing the web pages and images based on a template. After a simple configuration, the only daily operation required is clicking on the Run button. The rest is automatic.

Options

• If ePaper is used together with Scoop eLibrary, eLibrary has a built-in search interface, and your newspaper can offer an archive service on the web as well as the current newspaper.
• If you are using the Scoop Jumps plugin, ePaper can automatically generate pages with live clickable jumps directly to the continued article, when an article continues on e.g. page 5. However, even without this option, already the standard ePaper creates jumps to the page where the article continues.
