PageTrack

This is your complete shell for monitoring your page production. A page supervision system displaying Quark and InDesign pages during production, what status they have, and what items are on each page.

NewsPlanner is a web-based product part of the Scoop 6 editorial system.

PageTrack provides publication, page, and element management through a web browser. You have full control over text, advertising and page production. Thumbnails of each page are displayed and updated in real-time with status.
The system is running on a web browser and consists of three parts:

1. Product Manager

This is the first part and the first step in preparations – an application arranging and planning the product. A product template is set up or adjusted, information is (optionally) retrieved from the ad system, and proceeding from the template, you set the number of pages and plan the product. Each page will be based on pre-set QuarkXPress® or InDesign® document templates.

2. Info from Quark or InDesign and ad systems

The second part is an add-on for QuarkXPress or InDesign, enabling status and delivery reports to PageTrack, which is displayed in the web interface. Information about the status of each specific item can also (optionally) be received from your ad system.

3. Status pages

The third part, the Product Updater service, runs on a server, creating and updating a number of HTML pages which can be viewed in a web browser. All pages are visible, with updated pictures on each page, and with colours indicating each pages status. The pages can be shown in numerical order or sorted into pairs, as they will appear on the printing plates. And of course, the pages can be opened by page editors, directly from the web interface.

Show lists of articles, pictures and ads

By clicking on a page, a picture appears in the left-hand margin and all information about that page appears underneath, including plate configurations and page positioning. Comments can be linked to pages. By clicking on a command button, a display of the pages contents appears: ads, articles and pictures. Information such as page elements, when the page was last saved, who was working on the page, whether the page was output to an image-setter, and if the page is color or black and white, are also displayed. If the Scoop editorial system is used, articles are directly readable by clicking on the article list on each page.

Launch Quark / InDesign documents

A selected page document can be opened in Quark/InDesign by a command from the PageTrack web interface. When a document is opened, the PageTrack window is updated for all users. Thus the PageTrack windows is both a shell program for the page editors, and a page monitoring system for all staff connected to the network.

Optional modules

We offer a variety of optional modules, suiting your needs, from small weekly newspapers to large newsgroups with several parallel daily newspapers.

Editions, zones and versions

An edition can be a regional edition (zone) as well as a chronological ”afternoon” edition. You decide. Besides the editions, individual pages can exist in different versions, which can be displayed side by side in our web interface.

Format change

This function lets you add or remove pages on the fly, as well as changing the page order. If extra pages are inserted, changed, or deleted on short notice, all people concerned will be prompted. E.g. if the page editing needs to close during page re-index, the page editor will be prompted.

Rollout plugin/XTension

Rollout reads the Intellinet information from PageTrack and stores the page data, so that pages can e.g. be reused in several editions.

Scoop Ad plugin/XTension

This is the ”second part” of the PageTrack system, which is optional. It reads the data file from the ad dummy system and places all ads in their correct positions on the InDesign pages. Performs batch jobs on entire folders. Works with almost any ad system. Contact us for demonstrations.
