User access – channel filter
NewsFlash converts and exports the telegrams to Scoop baskets of your choice, or to other formats suiting systems of your choice. Even if you only subscribe to one channel, NewsFlash filters out the sports telegrams to the sports basket, high-priority telegrams to a flash basket, etc. You can easily filter the telegrams to baskets of your choice, based on the international IPTC category codes (or other codes), attached to the telegrams. This creates a convenient environment for the Scoop Edit users, with separate one-click baskets for separate topics.
NewsFlash controls to which baskets/folders the telegram is sent, depending on how the telegram is classified. The folders are situated on a shared volume on a file server or locally on a workstation.
File based or SQL
The telegrams are stored as Scoop articles, file based or in an SQL database such as Scoop SQL. Storing the telegrams in an SQL database offers a flexible environment and enables advanced searches of all contents. This enables a large number of users to access the telegrams through the network.Conversion Filter
All basic character conversions are done by the new Scoop Conversions Filter. This offers a very flexible situation to convert the news agencies hidden codes to codes used by Scoop, QuarkXPress, or InDesign, or simply to filter off and remove undesired recurring text strings. Thanks to the Conversion Filter, exported material can automatically be equipped with a Scoop header or text string of your choice.
The conversion tables works in separate levels; first a conversion is done on all incoming telegrams, then conversions is done for each separate service (if there are more than one incoming channel) and finally the conversions can be set on a wire services separate text code i.e. the code they use to define for example sport. This makes it possible to use different conversions for different departments.
